If I can't diagnose your problem THERE WILL BE NO CHARGE and if I am unable to fix your computer (assuming that you are willing to pay what it takes) THERE WILL BE NO CHARGE.


On-site versus in-shop: It sometimes makes more sense to have your computer problems looked at and repaired on-site, especially if it is a network issue or interconnected equipment. The first hour charge for on-site visits within the Bellingham city limits is $110, and $90 per hour on site.  Outside of Bellingham city limits, a transportation fee of $60 per hour is charged for travel TO your location ($30 per hour round trip) for transportation time.  On the other hand, there are sometimes problems that are more easily resolved in my shop such as data recovery and many laptop repairs.

If bringing a desktop computer in to the shop for repairs, usually only the computer itself is needed – no chords, keyboard, etc.  If bringing a laptop, please bring the power supply on the off chance there isn’t one that fits here in the shop.

Many services are on a flat fee basis so that you don't end up paying more even if it takes longer than predicted.  For work not otherwise priced, my in-shop hourly rate is $80 per hour. Here are some of my flat fees. Call if you have any questions.


Basic Diagnostic: Get an assessment of your computer's problems and a plan to resolve them. $40.00

Basic Setup: Setup your computer, monitor, printer and connect to your ISP. Useful after a move, or when you have purchased a new computer. In shop: $80.00 for up to one hour, $120.00 maximum. On site: $110 for up to one hour $155 maximum.

Fresh start: Sometimes the most economical way to solve your problems is to start from scratch by reinstalling your operating system. I reinstall Windows, Macintosh and Linux. This service includes updating all the drivers for the hardware in your computer, updating Windows with the latest security patches, installing security software (your software, or available free downloads). Transferring up to 50 GB of data from another computer is included.  In-shop price: $160.  Transferring more than 40 GB and installing or reinstalling your personal software is done at my hourly rate of $80.

Malware Removal: I will remove spyware, adware, viruses, worms, trojan horses, rootkits, hijacks, and other malware from your computer. Includes security checkup. Minimum $80 to maximum $160.00 depending on complexity of the problem.  If reinstalling the operating system is required (Fresh start - see above), no additional charge for malware removal is charged.

Security checkup: Ensure that your security software is up to date, that your operating system has the necessary updates and patches, and that your system is running safely. $80.00

Install hardware: Hardware and its installation are both subject to state sales tax. Adding memory, sound or video card, CD or DVD players is done at my hourly rate of $80 per hour.

Most work can be completed within 48 hours.  Ask about an expedite charge if you want it sooner than 48 hours.  Some repairs can take a week or longer if ordering parts is necessary.
